This revival of Martin Sherman’s play is doubly welcome. Once for itself: Bent, one of the most important and searing plays about homosexuality, hasn’t been seen in London since 1990. Doubly for it’s cast: Alan Cumming, Hugh Ross, and Chris New. Cumming has spent the past 11 years in the States (Broadway and Hollywood), but the astoundingly witty stardom of his career in London in the 1990’s – in La Bete, in Hamlet, and in Cabaret – lingers vividly in the memory.
